'Wicked' makes its way to movie screens in the Quad Cities

AMC theaters is airing an advisory before the film asking audiences not to sign along, which has divided some fans.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — For more than two decades, "Wicked" has captivated audiences on Broadway. Now, fans across the Quad-Cities are flocking to local theaters to experience the long-anticipated movie adaptation of the beloved musical.

Movie-goers eagerly shared their excitement as they entered theaters. Marcela Roberts recalled the first time she saw the musical.

"I saw the musical probably when I was 14. my mom took me up to Chicago to go see it," Roberts said.

The new film, which acts as a prequel to "The Wizard of Oz," has fans buzzing. Local resident Tom Petkunes said, "We got these tickets as soon as they were available, first night."

Despite AMC Theaters' strict "no sing-along" policy, some attendees admitted they might not be able to resist.

"I'm gonna do my best, I promise, I'll try, I'll probably have to cover my mouth a little bit, cause it's inevitable," Roberts said.

The arrival of "Wicked" to the big screen marks a special moment for longtime fans and newcomers alike, as the Quad-Cities community embraces the magic of Oz like never before.
