Iowa man dies after being struck by train, Wapello County Sheriff's Office says

An Iowa man has died after being struck by a train, the Wapello County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

AGENCY, Iowa — A man has died after being struck by a train, the Wapello County Sheriff's Office said Thursday. 

On Saturday, July 6, the sheriff's office received a call from BNSF Railway, saying a westbound train had hit a person on the tracks just west of Agency. 

47-year-old Ryan Joe Croft of Ottumwa died in the accident. 

"Our sincere condolences to Mr. Croft's family and friends as well as the BNSF Railway employees," the sheriff's office said in a press release.

The sheriff's office was assisted by Ottumwa police, Wapello County fire crews and Reece Funeral Home.
