CLINTON COUNTY, Iowa — The Clinton County Veterans Affairs Office is in need of volunteers to help get local veterans in the county to their medical and wellness appointments.

Ideally, the Veterans Affairs Office would like to have enough volunteers that they can rotate drivers on a bi-weekly schedule. That said, anybody who wants to volunteer is welcome to apply.

There are some qualifications interested volunteers must meet to drive for the Veterans Affairs office.

  • Completing a virtual training module, consisting of a 10-question quiz
  • Pass a driving record check
  • Complete a non-invasive physical check

In addition to these qualifications, some conditions can also disqualify a volunteer.

  • Vertigo
  • Use of marijuana or oxygen
  • Insulin-dependence
  • Parkinson's disease and related heart issues, including those at risk of having a stroke

Any further questions can be directed to the Veterans Affairs Office at (563) 242-1151.
