ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Football season is almost over, with the big game just a few weeks away. But while many of us will be keeping a close eye on the playoffs, UnityPoint Health - Trinity has their own competition going on.
Beginning on Sunday, Jan. 14, UnityPoint's Bettendorf and Moline BirthPlaces will be keeping track of newborns as part of a four-week competition between the number of newborn boys and girls welcomed at the facilities. The competition runs until Sunday, Feb. 11, and the hospitals will provide weekly updates on the standings.
"We have to be giving our best every day, because this is this person's birth and this family's big moment. We thought this was a great way to celebrate," Nurse Manager Sarah Turner said.
According to UnityPoint officials, the two facilities welcome 1,800 babies in total each year.
