Leftover Halloween candy? Here's where you can donate it to service members and veterans

A local financial advising group is collecting candy for the national program "Treats for Troops." Last year they sent over 250 pounds.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — If you have leftover Halloween candy, you can donate it to support active service members and veterans. Financial planning advisor The Cities Private Wealth Group is taking in candy for "Treats for Troops."

The national program is through the nonprofit group Soldiers' Angels which supports deployed and wounded service members, veterans and military families.

Last year, the group collected over 250 pounds of candy. Organizers said they want to send over 500 pounds this year.

"Our mission here is that we want to get very much actively involved, not only in our community, but things that we can do through different nonprofits and charities all over the country," Operations and Marketing Manager Courtney O'Connor said. "Supporting our troops and vets across the country and all over the world is very important to us."

The Cities Private Wealth Group is located at 4840 Utica Ridge Road in Davenport, which is next to the Five Guys restaurant.

Its office is open 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. You can donate candy through Nov. 12.
