COYNE CENTER, Ill. — A tornado was observed by a trained weather spotter near Coyne Center Friday morning as severe weather ripped through the Quad Cities region.
According to a release from Rock Island County Sheriff Darren Hart, the area of 22nd Street and Coyne Center Road was hit by the storm, resulting in substantial damage to the Coyne family farm.
News 8's Joe McCoy was on the scene where three sheds holding various farm equipment were shredded to pieces.
"I was pretty shocked. We were out of town when we got the phone call... Well, it's pretty stressful. I don't know about emotional, but pretty stressed out over it right now," property owner Scott Coyne said.
Part of one of the sheds flew dozens of yards away into the street.
According to a report received by the Sheriff's Office dispatch center from the National Weather Service, a trained weather spotter confirmed a tornado near Coyne Center. The National Weather Service will be conducting a survey of the area later today to confirm the tornado. No injuries have been reported.
According to Hart, multiple smaller buildings were also damaged, the area is littered with debris and there is a power outage in much of the Coyne Center and Coal Valley areas.

The Coal Valley Fire Department and Coyne Center Fire Department were on the scene Friday morning clearing debris and reopening roads to traffic.
The Sheriff's Office asks that the public stay clear of this area until emergency crews have ensured that it is safe.
