DAVENPORT, Iowa — A new health clinic is joining other nonprofits and businesses at the TMBC Lincoln Resource Center in Davenport.
The new walk-in clinic held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, Nov. 30. In partnership with the Better Health Foundation, the clinic will offer walk-in appointments on Wednesdays, as well as free blood pressure checks. Officials said they want to prioritize using the clinic's service to help bridge healthcare gaps within Davenport's Black community.
"Both hospital systems have a lack of nurses. Both hospital systems have a lack of diversity. So what we're going to do is identify students of color who are interested in the health care field. We're going to pay for them to get their CNA and train them on community outreach, and then employ them here at the Lincoln Center partnered with retired doctors ... so they're being mentored at the same time," said TMBC Executive Director Tracy Singleton said.
