DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Bees are officially the best in broadcasting!
St. Ambrose University's broadcast team, SAUtv, was been named the "Best College/University Television Station" at the 85th annual Media Awards Ceremony in Times Square. The award is given by the Intercollegiate Broadcast System.
IBS received more than 3,000 award entries from colleges and universities of all sizes across the country. SAUtv was nominated alongside Auburn University, Lasell University, University of Santo Tomas and Ashland University.
SAUtv and KALA Radio received a total of 6 IBS Media Award nominations including:
- "Best Newscast" for SAU Weekly
- "Best News Report" by Dave Girgenti
- "Best Sports Report" by Sydnee Horstman
- "Best Station Promo" by KALA Radio
- "Best Sports Play-by-Play" by Ryan Schiestel, Anna Verry and Jorge Brizuela
Now, both SAUtv and KALA Radio will compete for regional awards at the MBJA Midwest Broadcast Journalist Association Awards in Minneapolis on April 5-6, as well as the Iowa Broadcast News Association Awards in Des Moines on Saturday, April 20.
"Our students work hard all year to develop their skills and passions in the art of visual storytelling. We want to foster a creative environment where everyone can learn and understand effective multimedia communication," said Clinical Instructor Greg Armstrong in a press release.
