BETTENDORF, Iowa — The second annual Give Like Charly Golf Outing is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 28.
It honors Bettendorf High School graduate Charly Erpelding. Erpelding passed away in October 2022 after battling cancer. Her family has described her as giving — her cousin telling News 8 at a blood drive how much she looked up to her and her "fighting spirit."
Last year, the golf outing raised $50,000 for the Give Like Charly Scholarship. Besides golfing, the day will include lunch and prizes.
Heidi Behning and Jim Ash, who help organize the fundraiser, were guests on The Current, talking more about who Erpelding was and the scholarship the golf outing helps benefit. You can watch their full interview above.
You can sign up online for the golf outing. It will be Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Hidden Hills Golf Course in Bettendorf. Registration is open through Sept. 26. A ticket for an individual golfer is $80 and for a team of four is $320.
Tune into The Current from 4 to 5 p.m. on weekdays to catch live interviews impacting you, your family and your hometown as well as all of the biggest headlines of the day.
