Enjoy an evening of Native American storytelling, music and dance at St. Ambrose

As part of the Quad City Arts Visiting Artist Series, award-winning Meskwaki dancer Larry Yazzie will perform at the Galvin Fine Arts Center in Davenport.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Get ready for a night of Native American storytelling, music and award-winning dancing! 

Award-winning Meskwaki dancer and storyteller, Larry Yazzie, will give a special one-night performance as part of the Quad City Arts Visiting Artist Series on Saturday, Dec. 9. 

Yazzie is a proud member of the Meskwaki nation, Iowa's only federally recognized Native American nation. He is a renowned dancer, having won two world championships in Men's Fancy Dance (Schemitzun Powwow), and has since gone on to found Native Pride Dancers of Native Pride Productions based in Jacksonville, Florida.

After spending the week performing at several QCA schools, Yazzie will wrap up his residency in the Quad Cities with a performance at the Galvin Fine Arts Center at St. Ambrose University in Davenport. 

The performance will begin at 7 p.m., with a chance for conversation and meet and greets with Yazzie afterward. He also tells News 8 he'll be bringing a group of Meskwaki musicians from Iowa's Tama County to perform with him. 

Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for individuals. Admission is free for St. Ambrose students. You can buy your seats here
