Quad Cities MS walk raising money for research, education and families

The Oct. 13 event will cross the Arsenal Bridge from Davenport into Rock Island. Families and pets are welcome. Funds will go to the National MS Society.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Quad Cities is getting its first MS walk since 2018.

"Hey MS, Take a Walk" will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. You can register as a team or as an individual here. Families, pets and people of all ages are welcome to attend.

There are one and 5-mile walk options, with the main walk going from Bechtel Park in Davenport, across the Arsenal Bridge and finishing at Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island.

Organizers think this is the first time an MS walk will begin in Davenport and end across the river in Rock Island.

The money raised will go to the National MS Society, for research, education, supportive programs, advocacy and professional education and support for healthcare providers.

"We raise funds in communities across the country to ensure that everyone has access: people are biking in New York for constituents in live in the Quad Cities," wrote Kathleen O'Donnell, National MS Society Upper Midwest Chapter President, in an email to News 8.
