Kicking into the history books | Rock Island senior becomes first woman to score during a varsity football game

Olivia Samuelson is the first woman in Rock Island's 125 year football history to score points for the Rocks. She also plays for Rock Island's varsity soccer team.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — On Friday, August 30, Rock Island senior Olivia Samuelson kicked her way into the history books

Samuelson kicks for the Rock Island varsity football team. After making the post-touchdown extra point kick, she solidified her stance as the very first woman to score for the varsity Rocks. 

Rock Island football is celebrating its 125th season this year. 

Samuelson wears #13 on the field. Video of her history-making kick shows the ball going nearly straight down the center of the goalpost. 

When she's not on the football field, Samuelson also plays for the Rock Island varsity soccer team, where she has earned numerous awards, including a May 2024 player of the game honor. She is also #13 on the soccer pitch.
