Upcoming theatre in the QCA: Clinton Area Showboat Theatre opens for the season, 'Jersey Boys' at Circa '21

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Summer musical theatre is making its return to the Quad Cities area. 

Catch dinner and a classic pop history musical

Popular Rock Island dinner playhouse Circa '21 is showcasing "Jersey Boys" until July 6. The Tony Award-winning musical follows four blue-collar kids who became one of the greatest stories in pop music history: Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Attendees will hear various hits from the band including "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You."

Tickets for the season are $56 for Wednesday matinees and evening shows and $63 for evening shows on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Opening night tickets are $66 but luckily Jersey Boys is already under way, with its first show back on May 3. Prices include a pre-show meal as well. Ride along the river with live theatre

The Clinton Area Showboat Theatre makes its season debut on June 13 with "Million Dollar Quartet," a Tony Award-nominated musical about the iconic 1956 jam sesh with Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley. Musical attendees will get a chance to see that night brought back to life, featuring songs like "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "Walk the Line," "Sixteen Tons," "Hound Dog" and more. 

This year's theme at the Showboat Theatre is "A Season of Jukebox Hits," with "Rock of Ages," "We Will Rock You" and "The Marvelous Wondrettes" taking the stage this season. Here's a breakdown of the show dates:

  • Million Dollar Quartet: June 13 to June 23
  • Rock of Ages: June 27 to July 7
  • We Will Rock You: July 11 to July 21
  • The Marvelous Wondrettes: July 25 to Aug. 4
