Moline's new dual-purpose pitches are nearly complete at Stephens Park

Both basketball & futsal (think soccer on a smaller court) will be played on the new mini-pitches. Moline hopes the pitches will be completed in the next few weeks.

MOLINE, Ill. — The City of Moline is hoping to bring double the fun to Stephens Park this summer.

Officials from the City's Parks and Recreation Department hope the new dual-purpose mini-pitches near the park's existing baseball diamond will be completed in the next few weeks. Announced in August 2023, the pitches can be used for both basketball and futsal, which is a form of soccer played on a smaller, more condensed playing field.

The pitches replaced the old basketball court at Stephens Park. They are located on the west side of the park along 4th Street.

A similar mini-pitch was completed in Muscatine in late 2020. However, Moline officials say this will be the first of such pitches in the Quad City metro area.
