GALESBURG, Ill. — It doesn't take much trivia knowledge to figure out how loved Mary Davis is.
The community is invited to come out to a name-that-tune musical trivia night on Saturday, April 6 to benefit the longtime Galesburg resident and trivia lover.
The event will be held at Cedar Creek Hall on East North Street. Doors open at 5 p.m., and trivia begins at 6 p.m.
Davis was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in September 2023. All of the proceeds from this event will go toward Davis's bucket list.
"She's a wonderful person and she did not ask for or deserve this, but she's handling it in an admirable way," Davis's friend Dori Oberman said. "Mary's treatment options are becoming a little less wide as they were when she was first diagnosed."
While she hasn't revealed everything on her list, close friends say the music lover will most likely want to take in as many concerts as possible.
"I don't want her to worry about how she's going to pay to do anything that she wants to do, so that's what spurred this on," Oberman said.
The evening will be filled with musical trivia, a silent auction, bake sale, 50/50 raffle and prize giveaways. One lucky winner will receive a private concert from local musician, Shawn Kissler. There will be food from Smokin' Willies BBQ and drinks available at Cedar Creek's bar.
To participate in the trivia event, it's $10 a person or $100 for a table of up to ten people. To register, you can contact one of the event organizers listed at the top of this Facebook page.
