DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Quad Cities nonprofit that helps those impacted by cancer is about to have a night full of laughter, music and food.
Gilda's Club Quad Cities is putting on its signature event of the year, "Live from QC...It's Saturday Nite"! The event will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 6 p.m. at the Rhythm City Casino in Davenport.
It's the organization's signature event that honors Gilda Radner, one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live. She passed away from ovarian cancer in 1989, but her legacy lives on through the nationwide club that raises cancer awareness.
This year, the club is bringing comedian Josh Blue to the Quad Cities, who won NBC's Last Comic Standing back in 2006. Local band Soul Storm will also be in attendance.
Tickets cost $85 per person and include heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, along with being able to attend the comedy show and see some live music. A table of eight people is $650 while a table of 10 is $800.
All funds raised will stay local and go directly to Gilda's Club Quad Cities to help fund their mission. WQAD News 8 is proud to be the media sponsor for the event.
Development and Events Manager Lexi Bull joined The Current on News 8 to talk more about the event and what it means for the organization. You can view her entire interview in the above video.
