COAL VALLEY, Ill. — Those looking to support local families and individuals impacted by cancer can now register for the 2024 Gilda's Club Quad Cities Run for Hope.
The annual event is back for its second year at its new location in the Village of Coal Valley. The run, presented by Modern Woodman, will take place on June 29.
Runners will race through Coal Valley's scenic neighborhoods, as part of either a 5K or a 1-mile Fun Run. Pets can also take part in the Purina Doggy Dash (and take home a commemorative doggie bandana), where owners run alongside their furry companions for an additional $10.
Breakfast will be served after the run.
The money raised through Run for Hope stays local, to benefit those in our community being impacted by cancer.
Participants have the opportunity to personalize their race experience with custom bibs that feature the names of those they wish to honor. There will also be personalized yard signs placed along the race route. Then, post-race, participants can claim their yard signs and transfer them to their own homes.
You must register by June 9 to be guaranteed a shirt or a custom yard sign.
If you want to support, but not race yourself, there are still ways to participate. Commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase, yard signs can be acquired, monetary donations will be accepted, and volunteers are needed.
Residents of Coal Valley are invited to come out to the race route and cheer on participants as they pass by.
Gilda's Club Quad Cities provides no-cost support, hope and education to community members impacted by cancer. They are located on both sides of the river, at 1351 W Central Park Ave., Suite 200 at Genesis West in Davenport, as well as 600 John Deere Rd. Suite 100 at UnityPoint Health in Moline.
