ALEDO, Ill. — Aledo's Genesis Medical Center is being nationally recognized for its efforts in providing healthcare needs to Mercer County and surrounding communities.
Earlier this month, the health center was recognized as one of the top rural primary care practices across the nation, according to the 2024 Lilypad Awards, which ranks more than 5,400 rural healthcare clinics. Genesis Medical Center, Aledo, is the only facility in Illinois — and just one out of five in the Midwest — to earn the recognition.
“Genesis and MercyOne are committed to rural health care and keeping health care services and providers in Aledo. The Lilypad Award confirms the hard work and dedication of all our Genesis Medical Center, Aledo, colleagues fulfilling our mission of providing compassionate, quality care for our patients,” Ted Rogalski, administrator of Genesis Medical Center in Aledo, said in a press release.
The 22-bed critical access hospital is the only health center in Mercer County. It has around 130 employees and averages about 4,000 patient visits per month.
Data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid program is used to calculate rural-relevant metrics across five domains, which is then analyzed to "provide a comprehensive and objective assessment of rural health clinic performance," according to the Lilypad Awards website.
