Have you considered a pre-natal doula? QC's EveryChild has been awarded $9,500 to help

EveryChild offers both pre and post-natal doula services. For some clients, it can come at no cost. Now with the grant, they'll be able to expand doula training.

MOLINE, Ill. — Have you ever considered working with a doula?

In Moline, EveryChild (formerly the Child Abuse Council) provides pre and post-natal doula services to families throughout the Quad City region. This can be a range of services including lactation coaching, creating birth plans, emphasis on family attachment and bonding and more. For qualifying families, EveryChild's doula program can even come at no cost.

This fall, the Scott County Regional Authority awarded EveryChild $9,500 to continue and expand their doula services.

Tina Greer, doula program coordinator at EveryChild, stopped by The Current to discuss what this money will go toward and how significant a doula's impact can be on a family.

You can also check out EveryChild's doula website. The group hosts free prenatal education and support events, run by the doula team, up to three times per year.

Tune into The Current from 4 to 5 p.m. on weekdays to catch even more live interviews impacting you, your family and your hometown as well as all of the biggest headlines of the day.
