COAL VALLEY, Ill. — November is Epilepsy Awareness Month and the Epilepsy Advocacy Network wants you to come out for a Bingo Bash fundraiser.

According to a study published by the National Institutes of Health, one in 26 people will be diagnosed with the epilepsy disease in their lifetime, making it one of the most common neurologic disorders in the country. It's a brain disorder that causes unprovoked, recurring seizures.

The Quad Cities chapter of the Epilepsy Advocacy Network is hosting a 'Bingo Bash' on Saturday, Nov. 9 to raise money for EAN services.

The event will be held at The Rock in Coal Valley. Doors open at 5 p.m. for 'Rock 'n Roll Bingo' and registration is available here. The cost is $20 per person or $120 for a table of 8. There will also be an auction and raffles, with food and drink available for purchase.

The money raised at the event will benefit the EAN, which provides services to people of all ages with epilepsy.

The network has medical, mental and social supports to help people through their epilepsy journeys, including emergency assistance for medication, travel for appointments and seizure safe products, such as pillows and alert watches.

EAN also provides community education about epilepsy, including free Seizure First Aid trainings and Epilepsy 101 for kids.

The network also hosts support groups throughout Central and Northwest Illinois, including every fourth Thursday at the Moline Public Library, or online at 3 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month. You can click here for the zoom link.
