MOLINE, Ill. — Bringing you our News 8 newscasts takes a whole host of talented, hardworking and determined people. For all of the talented employees you see on-screen, there are many more off-screen bringing our community the current headlines.
So on the 8th of each month, we highlight one of these crew members on The Current at 4 p.m.
For March, we sat down with WQAD morning editor and photographer, Jacob Mundy. When Jacob isn't working the morning shift, he's spent the last 2+ years writing his very first book.
It's called "Profound Light: Overcoming Childhood and Adolescent Trauma" and dives into Jacob's childhood cancer journey, his father's deployment and his family members' battles with cancer.
Through it all, Jacob battled illness and suicidal thoughts before discovering the light and a refusal to surrender.
The book will officially be released on June 14.
Jacob has spent months self-publishing his book. Through setting up a website, learning how to market his work and gearing up for the launch, it's been a long process. But now, he says he can't believe how close all of his dreams finally are.
You can check out Jacob's website here. By signing up for his newsletter, you'll be able to receive the first chapter in advance, as well as participate in an exclusive cover reveal.
We sat down with Jacob to find out more on his self-publishing process and what he drew inspiration from for his book. You can find the full interview in the above video.
