SILVIS, Ill. — A popular bar and grill in Silvis was broken into overnight, officials have confirmed.
Tap 22 made a Facebook post just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14 saying the business had been broken into around 2:20 a.m. earlier that morning. Bree Schultz is a manager at the restaurant and says she discovered the break-in. Eight liquor bottles were taken from the bar, she said. Photos show a glass door was broken as well.
Schultz said nothing was stolen that couldn't be replaced. The broken glass was cleaned up and the door was boarded before the restaurant even opened for the day thanks to community support, Schultz added. As of now, the restaurant is open and operating at its normal hours.
"Nothing is gonna stop us," Schultz said. "We're gonna stay open." She added that their customers are their number one priority.
News 8 reached out to Silvis Police Chief Mark VanKlaveren regarding the incident, and he confirmed a burglary did take place at Tap 22. The investigation remains open and no other information was provided.
Tap 22 said in the post that they have camera footage of the incident and are "working closely with our local police department to identify these people."
The following photo was captured by Tap 22's surveillance and posted online.
