Original story: Authorities in Henry County say they are looking for a suspect with a nationwide arrest warrant after driving away from a traffic stop Friday night.

According to a press release posted on Facebook, a deputy from the Henry County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop just before midnight on Dec. 1. It happened just south of Annawan on Route 78. During the stop, the deputy learned someone inside the vehicle had a nationwide arrest warrant and attempted to detain them at the front passenger side door.

The vehicle then left the scene, causing minor injuries to the deputy. Officers chased the vehicle along Route 78 and into Kewanee city limits. According to the release, the driver drove the vehicle recklessly and later collided with another vehicle near the intersection of Tenney and Division Streets in Kewanee.

The suspect had already left the scene when officers arrived, according to the sheriff's office. Occupants from both vehicles were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation and the suspect remains at large, according to the department. The release did not provide any identifying information on the suspect or vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff's Office at (309) 937-3611.

The sheriff's office was assisted by the Kewanee Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies. Officials say there is no threat to the public.
