STERLING, Ill. — A man is wanted in connection to a Tuesday night shooting in Sterling, police say.
The incident occurred just before 9:15 p.m. on May 28 at the 2200 block of East Lincolnway. Police responded to the area after reports of shots being fired. According to a press release, police arrived on scene and learned a 28-year-old man had been shot in the location. He was transported by a private vehicle to a local hospital before being transferred to a Rockford hospital in serious condition.
Police are looking for 24-year-old Daveon H. Lucas in connection. He faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Police say it was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
