Rock Island Police arrest man following Thursday workplace shooting

30-year-old Dante T. Beard allegedly shot a coworker shortly after 8 a.m. on Thursday morning.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Around 1:40 p.m., the Rock Island Police and Rock Island County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at the American Motor Inn in Rock Island and arrested 30-year-old Dante T. Beard in connection to a Thursday morning shooting that occurred at Pak Source.

Shortly after 8 a.m., Rock Island police said they responded to the packaging supply company following a report of a shooting. Officers found a 34-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. The man's wounds are serious but do not appear to be life-threatening.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had a confrontation with Beard. According to a news release, Beard shot the victim before fleeing the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.

Pak Source, a packaging supply company, is located on Mill Street on the west side of Rock Island.
