MOLINE, Ill. — Christmas is just a little over a month away and organizations across the Quad Cities are preparing for their holiday traditions.
The Salvation Army's annual Red Kettles program, which can be found at numerous area stores, is now available for donations as of Friday, Nov. 3. This year's fundraising goal is $750,000 for the Quad Cities area, which was announced at a kickoff event Friday afternoon.
“The holiday season always brings added pressures and challenges to our local families and individuals in need to make ends meet, but we have found the Quad Cities community to be very generous, and every gift is appreciated," Maj. Robert Doliber, the Quad Cities coordinator for Salvation Army, said in a press release. "All funds raised will be used for programs and services in the Quad Cities."
Those wanting to donate can do so at one of the 40 Red Kettle locations across the Quad Cities area. Cash, checks or smartphone payments are accepted. Donations can also be made online at davenportredkettle.org or molinredkettle.org.
Those interested in being a bell ringer can visit RegisterToRing.com or call (563) 324-4808 for Scott County or (309) 764-2811 for Rock Island County. Families looking for assistance this holiday season can apply through Nov. 22 by contacting the numbers listed above.
