$13 grant funding awarded to Moline's SAL Community Services

The money will support the organization's child care and early childhood education services.

MOLINE, Ill. — A Moline-based child care group is set to receive more than $13 million in grant funding.

SAL Community Services has been serving families around the Quad Cities for more than 50 years. Officials with the organization said that the funding will be used to support programs such as their Home Child Care Network, early childhood educational initiatives and more.

“The demand for accessible child care, workforce development, and essential services like food has significantly increased in our area,” SAL President and CEO Marcy Mendenhall said in a press release. “Our ongoing operations depend on state funding, grants, and the generosity of our donors. This renewed funding will allow us to continue our current programs and address new areas where support is needed most."

SAL officials said they're also about to launch a new home-visiting program.

In addition to their Moline office, the organization also offers services in Galesburg and Peoria.
