ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Several pets died in a Rock Island house fire early Friday morning.
The Rock Island Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the Hilltop Neighborhood at 12:18 a.m. According to Fire Marshal Greg Marty, fire crews arrived at the scene three minutes after the call and found heavy fire coming from the first floor windows.
According to Fire Marshal Marty, one person was at home and managed to escape without any injuries, and several pets were rescued. Unfortunately, officials said several pets died in the fire.
Investigation is still underway commanded by Fire Marshal Marty, and it is said that according to preliminary information the fire was accidental.
