Rock Falls woman dies after house fire Tuesday

News 8 received confirmation that the woman was pronounced deceased after being transported to a local hospital.

ROCK FALLS, Ill. — Update: News 8 received confirmation from Rock Falls Deputy Fire Chief Ken Wolf that the occupant in Tuesday's house fire has died. She was pronounced deceased after being transported to a local hospital. Her identity has still not been released.

One person was evacuated following a structure fire in Rock Falls.

Emergency crews responded to a blaze in the 600 block of 15th Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Heavy smoke was coming from inside the residence when first responders arrived on the scene.

During the response to the fire, firefighters discovered a resident still inside the house. Crews evacuated the occupant, who was transported to a local hospital. The name and condition of the occupant are being withheld.

The fire's cause is still under investigation.
