MOLINE, Ill. — A new name has been announced for the former Riverside Family Aquatic Center in Moline as it undergoes millions of dollars in upgrades.
The Moline Parks and Recreation Department announced in a press release on Thursday, Nov. 30 that the area will now be known as 'Riverside Riverslide.'
The center is receiving $6.8 million in updates and improvements. New features include three new water slides, a lazy river, a splash pad, new shade structures, updated concessions, nighttime lights, a shared park shelter and family restrooms.
Facility updates were announced in February 2023, closing the pool for the summer season. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in April.
As of the Nov. 30 press release, construction is still on schedule for a reopening date of May 2024.
The City plans to continue to partner with the Two Rivers YMCA when the facility opens. YMCA members will have full access to the improved Riverside Riverslide included in their membership.
