Moline's Riverside Riverslide adjusts hours due to safety concerns

Pool officials said the main concerns have been fights and people hopping the fence to sneak inside.

MOLINE, Ill. — Moline's Riverside Riverslide is reducing its hours, citing safety concerns around the pool.

The pool will close two hours earlier on Fridays and Saturdays, and the changed schedule will take effect on Monday, June 24. You can find the updated open swim schedule below:

  • Mondays: noon to  p.m.
  • Tuesday: noon to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday: noon to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday: noon to 8 p.m.
  • Friday: noon to 6 p.m. (previously 8 p.m.)
  • Saturday: noon to 6 p.m. (previously 8 p.m.)
  • Sunday: noon to 6 p.m.

Pool officials said they hope to resume the normal schedule later in the summer.

According to officials with the Moline Parks and Recreation Department, the primary issues they're trying to address have been fights and visitors trying to sneak in by climbing over the facility's fencing. The city has hired Digital Security Solutions to provide two security guards during open swim hours, and a Moline police officer will also walk through the facility during Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
