2 dead, 3 injured in Scott County house fire

Two people have died following a house fire in Riverdale, Iowa on Friday, July 19.

RIVERDALE, Iowa — A second victim has died following a fatal house fire in Riverdale, Iowa on Friday, July 19. 

The Scott County Sheriff's Office has identified the second victim as 64-year-old Bonita Grindle. The Sheriff's Office identified 66-year-old Jeffrey Grindle as the victim who passed away at the time of the fire. 

Of the remaining three occupants who were able to escape the fire and were transported to a regional hospital, at least one has been released.

This fire is still being investigated by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office along with the Iowa State Fire Marshal. There is no further information at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY

A house fire has claimed the life of one resident and injured four others at a home in Riverdale, Iowa.

First responders from Riverdale, Bettendorf, and LeClaire arrived at the scene in the 300 block of Circle Drive around 1:30 a.m. Friday, July 19 to a house fully engulfed in flames. 

Three residents had escaped from the property and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Inside the home, fire personnel located one male who was found deceased. Fire crews also rescued one woman who was later airlifted to Iowa City with unknown injuries. 

The incident is under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff's Investigation Unit and the Iowa State Fire Marshal.
