ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is set to begin working on repairs on the I-80 Bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Rock Island County.
IDOT officials announced that the work is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 18. While work in ongoing, one lane of traffic will remain open in both directions, along with all ramps connecting to the bridge. The lane closures will remain in place throughout the duration of the repair work, which is expected to wrap up in July, according to the IDOT.
Despite the remaining lanes, IDOT officials said that drivers should still expect delays and allow themselves to drive across the bridge. Drivers are also urged to keep an eye out for signs in work zones, obey speed limits around the construction and keep their phones put away while driving near workers and equipment.
The $1 million repair project aims to repair the bridge deck.
