Red, White and Boom! fireworks display postponed due to predicted Mississippi River flooding

The Quad Cities region's premier fireworks show, Red, White and Boom!, has been postponed due to anticipated flooding on the Mississippi River.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Quad Cities region's premier fireworks show, Red, White and Boom!, has been postponed due to anticipated flooding on the Mississippi River. 

The annual bi-state fireworks show was scheduled for July 3 at LeClaire Park in Davenport and Schwiebert Park in Rock Island. According to the Red, White and Boom! website, a new date is pending.  

The Mississippi River is currently at 14 feet high and is forecasted to rise to 17.9 feet by Tuesday, June 2. 18 feet is classified as a major flood stage. At 18 feet, water will rise over sections of River Drive, Gaines Street, 2nd Street and Iowa Street in Davenport. Credit Island will also be heavily impacted.
