Red, White and Boom! rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7

The Quad Cities region's biggest fireworks show was postponed from July 3 due to flooding on the Mississippi River.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Quad Cities region's premier fireworks show, Red, White and Boom!, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7.

The event will kick off that evening with family-friendly events in Davenport and Rock Island before fireworks launch at dusk. The Quad Cities River Bandits will also host a night baseball game at Modern Woodmen Park.

The annual bi-state fireworks show was originally scheduled for July 3 at LeClaire Park in Davenport and Schwiebert Park in Rock Island but was postponed due to flooding on the Mississippi River.

The Mississippi River is currently at 18.32 feet at the Rock Island gauge and is forecasted to rise to 20 feet by Sunday, July 7.

18 feet is classified as a major flood stage. At 18 feet, the water rises over sections of River Drive, Gaines Street, 2nd Street and Iowa Street in Davenport. All riverfront parks in Davenport are currently closed due to the floodwaters.
