HILLSDALE, Ill. — A firefighter with the Rapids City Fire Protection District is in the hospital in stable condition after a large tree branch fell on her as she responded to an incident involving a tree on fire Monday morning.
The department tells News 8 that the injured firefighter responded around 6 a.m. to rural Hillsdale.
The homeowner says they believe lightning hit the tree overnight.
A Facebook post shared by the Village of Hampton states that the firefighter was transported to a hospital and has received multiple surgeries.
No one else was injured.
