Show your support for our nation's heroes with 'paint the ice' event in Moline

From 9:00 am until 7:00 pm Monday, people can go to the Vibrant Arena and write the names of military heroes on the ice and will remain there for this week's games.

MOLINE, Ill. — On Monday, November 7th, 2022, the public is invited to the Vibrant Arena at The Mark to paint the names of our nation's heroes on the ice. The paint and brushes are provided and the event is happening from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm. "It's always a pretty special day," said Brian Rothenberger, President of the Quad City Storm. "[The public can] paint the names of loved ones who serve or have served in the armed forces on the ice. Those names for both of our games this week." Rothenberger went on to say.

For Rothenberger, he wants this event to give space for people to remember their loved ones. "For people who have served and maybe aren't with us anymore... we have a bunch of fans who paint the names right in front of where their seats are so they can see them... for others, I think it's just a chance to pay respect for those who are still with us."

You will enter the Vibrant Arena at the box office area and follow the signs toward the ice. Rothenberger says there will be staff members helping direct people where to go. There will be sheets of cardboard for you to kneel on while you paint, and the ice has been roughed up so you don't need to worry about slipping.

The names will stay on the ice for Thursday and Fridays' games. Friday is the Salute to Military night. During the game, there will be an enlistment ceremony on the ice welcoming newly enlisted servicemen and women. There will also be shout outs during the game for military heroes.
