MILAN, Ill. — If your home has been missing a special someone, animal shelters around the Quad Cities might have the answers.
Several local shelters are participating in BISSEL Pet Foundation's nationwide "Empty the Shelters" event from May 1 to May 15. As a result, shelters will offer reduced adoption fees for adult pets in need of a new home.
"Our nation’s animal shelters are facing a capacity crisis and need your help now. Adoptions have slowed while a surge in owner surrenders due to families facing economic and housing challenges has left tens of thousands of highly adoptable pets desperate to find homes," Cathy Bissell, founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation said.
Here are some of the participating shelters in the greater Quad Cities area:
- Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan, Illinois
- Des Moines County Humane Society in Burlington, Iowa
- Humane Society of Scott County in Davenport, Iowa
