Thousands of Quad Citizens lose power as winter storm hits

According to MidAmerican Energy, the outages have been weather-related and they expect to see additional outages as wind gusts swell.

MOLINE, Ill. — Friday's winter storm and heavy snowfall have impacted the Quad Cities region with power outages across the metro area affecting over 1,300 customers as of 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to MidAmerican Media Relations Manager Geoff Greenwood, outages have been happening throughout the storm as over a foot of snow falls across the QC area. With strong wind gusts expected throughout the weekend, Greenwood said there's a good chance that the weather will lead to further outages for QC residents.
