MILAN, Ill. — Quad Cities-based Group O announced that some current employees will be laid off.
According to a press release from Group O dated Wednesday, April 3, the reduction will occur over the course of the next six months and comes as a result of "changes to the operational model of a long-time client."
The release doesn't specify how many employees will lose their jobs.
“Although this is a difficult time, Group O plans to seek new opportunities to repurpose this facility in an effort to bring jobs back to the Quad Cities. Group O has been a part of this community for 50 years and we will not let a shift in direction by one client change that," Group O Owner Gregg Ontiveros said in the release.
According to the release, Group O will attempt to absorb some laid off employees into other divisions within the company.
