EAST MOLINE, Ill. — There's plenty of giving spirit to go around during the holidays, and one Quad Cities car dealership is helping local families get a full meal for Thanksgiving.
On Monday, Nov. 13, volunteers at Kunes Ford East Moline partnered with River Bend Food Bank to box up meal kits that'll help up to 300 families during the holiday. The event was part of a nationwide program sponsored by Ford. Youth Hope will distribute the meal kits to local families in need next week. Officials behind the drive said they're proud to be helping their local communities get a taste of holiday cheer.
"It's a blessing to give. To gain results, you've got to pay it forward," Pete Loman with Kunes Ford of East Moline said.
Kunes Nissan in Davenport and 42 other car dealers are also taking part in the program. They're hoping to give away at least 300,000 meals in total.
