ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — A Rock Island home caught fire on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The home was located on Partridge Circle, just south of I-280. The Rock Island Fire Chief told our reporter on the scene that two people were home when the fire started, but they were able to escape without injury. The chief said that when crews first arrived, he saw flames reaching 30 to 40 feet in the air coming from the home.

While the investigation into the blaze is still ongoing, the chief told News 8 he believes it was caused by a lightning strike from Thursday night's storms.
