MUSCATINE, Iowa — Shots were fired following a police chase on Wednesday afternoon in Muscatine, officials say.

According to police, officers with the Muscatine County Drug Task Force served a search warrant within city limits around 3:30 p.m. on May 29. When law enforcement approached, the subjects fled in a vehicle and police say they conducted a high-speed chase on Highway 61.

While fleeing, police claim the vehicle was involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 61 and Cedar Street. The suspects then allegedly fled on foot and Muscatine police said several gunshots were fired shortly after.

Officials did not confirm who fired the gunshots, how many shots were fired, whether those shots hit anyone or whether the shots caused injuries, if so.

WQAD has a crew on the scene and is working to get more information. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation will be leading the investigation of the situation.
