SkillBridge provides 16-week paid internships for military members as they're wrapping up their service.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Rock Island Police Department is the newest partner of the Department of Defense's SkillBridge Program.

SkillBridge provides 16-week paid internships for military members as they're wrapping up their service. Officials said the program helps veterans learn new skills as they're transitioning back to civilian life.

“The Rock Island Police Department is proud to offer this opportunity to the men and women who have faithfully served our country in the armed forces,” Police Chief Tim McCloud said in a press release. “We value the dedication and sacrifice they have made to keep our country safe and look forward to applying that same commitment of service to our own ranks and for our community.”

Anyone interested in applying for the program can do so through Iowa Workforce Development or the SkillBridge website. Questions can also be sent to the Rock Island Police Department by calling 309-732-2500.
