ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Rock Island has a new Deputy Chief of Police.
On Monday, July 7, James Morris was sworn in to fill the position. Previously a lieutenant with the RIPD, Morris first joined the department in December 2000. He's worked as an elderly service office, hostage negotiator, assistant watch commander and more.
Now, he said he's ready to work alongside Police Chief Tim McCloud on developing new policies, projects and programs to work with the citizens of Rock Island.
"He's got a lot of great ideas," Morris said.
And McCloud has nothing but good things to say about his new Deputy Chief, as well.
"I’ve seen him work in different positions, and he'll bring all of that knowledge and experience to the position of deputy chief, which is going to serve him very well," McCloud said.
