MOLINE, Ill. — Severe storms rolled through the Quad Cities region Sunday, with wind gusts exceeding 60 mph in some areas.
Just shy of 8,000 MidAmerican Energy customers were without power at one point Sunday afternoon. Over 2,000 people lost power in Geneseo as well. As of Monday afternoon, those outages have been restored.
MidAmerican's Outage Map showed outages on both sides of the river. According to a statement sent to News 8 from the energy company, at least 90 separate incidents were reported.
A spokesperson said they called additional resources from Des Moines to the Quad Cities to help restore power to folks.
News 8 has received numerous reports of broken trees and other storm damage throughout the area, including an uprooted tree in Bettendorf. Over in Illinois, a tree fell on a Caroll County sheriff's squad car. No injuries were reported in either incident.
Michael Tumbleson sent in photos from the Hidden Lake Country Club in Sheffield showing uprooted trees and damages to some buildings. Social media reports show a Mobil gas station in Rockford collapsed due to high winds.
