MOLINE, Ill. — Recent changes to traffic on John Deere Road are successfully reducing crashes, according to Moline police.

Beginning on Monday, March 11, drivers were no longer able to turn right on red onto John Deere Road from 41st Street. Since then, the intersection has only seen a single crash in the southbound to westbound turn lane and no crashes in the northbound to eastbound turn lane.

Before the changes took effect, Moline Police Department officials said they'd seen a 140% increase in traffic crashes at the intersection. In the last two years, police responded to 153 crashes at the intersection, of which 60% occurred on 41st Street's northbound and southbound right turn lanes to get onto John Deere Road.
