ASHTON, Ill. — A 16-year-old girl is dead following a suspected homicide in Lee County, and officials believe her teenage boyfriend is responsible for her death.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, officers received a call from the Rochelle Police Department around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The caller from the Rochelle Police Department said a 17-year-old male, later identified as David J. Sosa, walked into the department's lobby and informed staff "he was involved in a murder," according to a press release from the sheriff's office.
Sosa provided officials with an address in the 700 block of Richardson Avenue in Ashton, where authorities found the body of 16-year-old Jaedyn A. Hill. An autopsy performed Wednesday morning ruled the cause of death as strangulation. Officials said that Sosa and Hill resided at the residence together and they were dating.
Sosa is being charged as an adult with four counts of first-degree murder. The charges carry a sentencing range of 20 to 60 years in prison, according to a news release.
The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 815-284-6631 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CAUGHT-U.
