Kewanee death investigation updated to homicide investigation

The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Damon Foulks of Peoria.

KEWANEE, Ill. — Update Sunday, June 16: Officials have identified a person of interest in connection to the homicide investigation, according to a press release from Illinois State Police. However, no charges have been filed. WQAD News 8 typically does not name persons of interest or suspects until they are formally charged.

A death investigation in Kewanee is now a homicide investigation.

The investigation dates back to Saturday, June 8, when officers conducted a welfare check on the 800 block of West Division Street shortly after 10 p.m. During the check, officers said they found an unresponsive male, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy identified the victim as 50-year-old Damon Foulks of Peoria. Officers said the results of the autopsy led them to declare the incident a homicide investigation.
