MOLINE, Ill. — The Illinois State Police (ISP) will conduct patrols in December focused on preventing, detecting and punishing impaired driving in La Salle and Rock Island counties.

These Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrol officers will be watching for:

  • Unsafe driving
  • Driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license
  • Transporting open alcoholic beverages
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI)
  • Safety belt and child restraint use
  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • All Illinois vehicle code and criminal violations

Also in Rock Island County, officers will conduct Roadside Safety Checks to prevent driving violations.

Alcohol and drug impairment contribute to more than 30% of all fatal vehicle crashes in Illinois, according to an ISP press release.
